Commissionati da Cisco, Charles Leadbeater (di cui abbiamo gia’ scritto piu’ volte) e Annika Wong hanno prodotto un interessante paper su come imprenditori sociali in tutto il mondo stanno ripensando all’ istruzione.

Partendo dalla premessa che se Paesi differenti devono affrontare gli stessi problemi allora troveranno anche soluzioni comuni, l’ obiettivo di “Learning From The Extremes” e’ stato quello di osservare i risultati prodotti dalla creativita’ di oltre 100 innovatori sociali in Paesi quali India, Brasile e Kenya.

To make learning effective in the future, to teach the skills children will need, on the scale they will be needed (especially in the developing world), will require disruptive innovation to create new, low-cost, mass models for learning. [...]

That kind of disruptive innovation may not come from the best schools. It is much more likely to come from social entrepreneurs who often seek to meet huge need without the resources for traditional solutions: teachers, text books and schools. Disruptive innovation frequently starts in the margins rather than the mainstream.

Il paper vuole anche offrire un framework con quattro strategie chiavi che governi, scuole e famiglie dovrebbero adottare.

Iniziative come Door Step School,  Hole in The Wall, Center for Digital Inclusion e Retrak sono invece alcuni esempi di come passare dalla teoria alla pratica.
